Berghaus boosts footwear with new boots, shoes, sandals and socks
Berghaus is extending its footwear range for spring/summer 2012 with three season boots, trail running shoes, multi-activity shoes and sandals, along with a range of high performance hiking and multi-activity socks.
Exterra three season boots and shoes
Sitting between the Tarazed GTX® 3/4 season boot and the hugely popular Explorer family, is the new Exterra range of boots and shoes. The men’s Exterra Ridge GTX® and the men’s and women’s Exterra Trek GTX® and Exterra Light GTX® are all technical three season hiking boots, loaded with technology, including Gore-Tex® linings, Berghaus’ own proven OPTI-STUD® outsole in grippy and durable Alpha Compound rubber, 100% recycled Eco Ortholite® shock absorbing insoles and EHS™ (Ergonomic Holding System) lacing.
The Exterra boots are designed for sustained adventures on challenging trails and mountain paths, from Ben Nevis to the Appalachian Trail. With a last that is modelled on the one used for the Explorer, the Exterra offers comfort as well as performance.
Limpet trail running footwear
For those who want to move faster, Berghaus is introducing trail running footwear to its collection. The men’s and women’s Limpet™ Low are lightweight, posted motion control shoes for off road, muddy trails and single tracks. The Limpets pack a huge amount of performance into a distinctive package.
What is clearly visible is the lightweight synthetic, highly breathable air mesh upper upper, incorporating Limpet™ compression stretch panels and moulded exoskeleton foot holding system, along with Berghaus’ new running specific OPTI-STUD® sole unit featuring sticky Terracious Grip™ rubber. Hidden beneath the surface is additional technology in three key areas: the semi-curved last, designed specifically for running; the Limpet™ five density EVA midsole, medially posted with an asymmetrical heel crash pad; and a Low Profile Protection (LPP™) shank and engineered lightweight Plantar-Plate™ that provide tension control, torsional rigidity and protection from stone bruising. The GTX version is guaranteed to protect your feet from the perils of foul weather and is ideal for wet streets, off road, muddy trails and single tracks.
Benefaction multi-activity shoes and Bueno sandals
The Limpets represent a new and dynamic development for Berghaus. They are a logical extension to a range that also includes multi-activity shoes like the re-engineered men’s and women’s Benefaction II GTX® and Benefaction II, which seamlessly blend running technology with a fast and light hiking platform. The footwear collection is further extended by the addition of the Bueno Strap men’s and women’s sandals.
Footwear developments don’t stop with boots, shoes and sandals. Berghaus has also introduced a new range of socks for spring/summer 2012, with high performance styles for expeditions, hiking and trail sports that combine premium technical fibres, optimum compression and retail and consumer friendly packaging.
Every sock in the range features Berghaus’ own ARGENTIUM® silver ion technology, offering outstanding anti-microbial and anti-odour properties, along with moisture management designed to cope with the highest aerobic activities. In the expedition and hiking socks, Berghaus is introducing the first ever blend of merino wool and PRIMALOFT® for socks, maximising the combined benefits of natural and synthetic fibres. The mixture of both materials delivers unparalleled warmth and comfort during extended use.
Additional moisture management is offered in key styles by the use of OPTI-MESH ventilation panels on the instep. Hollow and channelled ThermoCool yarns create a greater surface area for heat to disperse from and they evaporate moisture quicker than standard yarns. With a total of 14 styles (men’s plus women’s), along with attractive, very practical packaging, and bespoke in store furniture and POS material, Berghaus is making a significant investment in the performance socks market.
This combination of new boots, shoes, sandals and socks represents the most extensive and complete performance footwear range in Berghaus’ history.
