All maps are waterproof. The "Walker's Route" Series supply the whole route on one sheet. Routes include the West Highland Way, St Cuthberts Way, the Cotswold Way & the South Downs Way.

L'Institut Geographique National (IGN), Espace IGN, 107 rue La Boetie-75008 Paris The IGN Blue and TOP 25 Series are the best walking maps for the serious walker with 2000 of them covering the whole of France. The "France Grande Randonnee" (903) guide map to long distance paths gives an excellent overview of walking routes throughout France together with an index of all 1:25 000 scale maps.

The National Survey of Switzerland (Bundesant fur Landestopographie) produce an excellent series of 1:50000 scale maps especially for walkers. The maps are called Landeskarte Wanderkarte (Walkers Maps).

Freytag & Berndt produce both 1:50000 & 1:250000 maps with less detailed contouring and paths marked clearly in red.

www.swisstopo.ch provides a thorough guide to swiss maps

Kompass Maps produce 1:50000 scale maps showing Wanderwegs (Long Distance Footpaths) in a clearly distinguishable red. Especially good for the Bavarian Alps & Black Forest Areas.

The Finnish map maker is Kartakeskus. They produce maps ranging in scale from 1:20,000 through to 1:1000,000 including maps especially designed for wilderness walking.
