The walk starts at the information sign outside the Dolphin Inn and heads out to the flood bank. Turn right by the chunky bench and Ribble Way sign and follow the bank.

Goes under the two slip roads at Junction 31 of the M6 before crossing the flat plain towards Boilton Wood where it climbs through and then follows the edge around a bend in the river.
The path leaves the edge of the wood briefly to take in the delights of an industrial estate before returning to and passing through it again to cross a field and meet the tarmac road form Place House Farm. This in turn comes to a T junction with Elston Lane at which point the ways turn left past the Big Wood.
A couple of fields on and the farm road to Marsh House goes off to the right and so do you. Leaving the Thirlmere Way behind

The busy A682 is taken out of Gisburn for some time. Be very careful as this is a busy road with no footpath. Just after a block slurry bunker on the left take the bridleway off the road into a shallow before going up to Castle Haugh at the corner of the copse atop Castle Haugh hill. Enter the wood and drop down to the bridge. Cross the river and take the road up into Paythorne. At the telephone box opposite the Buck Inn turn right along the lane.

The Ribble Way joins the Pennine Way northbound leaving Horton in Ribblesdale via a stone lane to the side of the Lion Inn and at Sell Gill Holes the two depart the Ribble Way going off to the left.
Shortly after you might think this is a popular walk! It is because its just been met by the Three Peaks and the walkers are egarly making their way between Pen-y-ghent and Whernside. The rush hour traffic stays until Nether Lodge before the Ribble Way heads out over Low Rigg and Thorns Moss before joining the Ingleton / Hawes Road.
Turn right up the hill before meeting up with the Dales Way turning left to Winshaw
Turn right at the minor road leaving the Dales Way to go left and walk up to the Ingleton / Hawes Road again. Go straight across at the T junction and head for The Round sheepfold. Continuing along the track the path goes left along the Iam Sike watercourse to the finish of the Ribble Way at Gaval Gap.
A short climb further on brings you to the Cam High Road an old Roman Raod on the Pennine Way.
