Heading out from Tiverton on the road to Cullomptom the canal is found on the left and it is a case of just following the towpath alternating between banks as you go past Halberton, through Sampford Peverell (Tiverton Parkway) , Ayshford, Great Fossend and Whipcott. At Burnhill Farm the canal dries up but the path continues to follow the course. There is a off route to the south at Gamlins Farm.

From Burnhill Farm the canal passes through the small hamlet of Greenham, shirts Wellington, goes between Tone Green and Bradford on Tone along the River Tone and on to Norton Fitzwarren and Taunton
