From the confluence of the Foss and the Ouse in York the walk heads north following the River Foss towards its source then at the last minute diverts back south to Easingwold to finish in this pleasent Georgian market town. It is joined on the early sections out of York by the Ebor Way and Centenary Way and links with the Howardian Way near Oulston.
