Starting in Exmouth the way follows the Exe estuary to Lympstone before turning east. It then utilises four commons Lympstone, Woodbury, Colaton Raleigh & after passing through Hawkerland Valley Harpford to get to the village of Harpford. At Woodbury Common there is an old fort and tumulus,at Colaton Raleigh there's a "Danger Area" firing range and at Harpford Common there's a hotel.

Having passed through Harpford and the wood named after it there's a climb to Beacon Hill and another Harpford Harpford Common! Following the edge of the escarpment for a short distance to the "White Cross" the path turns East again to Sidbury.

Heading North from the smell on the lefthand side of the River Axe before crossing just beyond Nunford Hole to Musbury and on to Bulmoor, Wadley Hill, Uplyme and down to Lyme Regis.
