The walk follows ancient lines of communication south from Cromer on the Norfolk coast to the M11 at Saffron Walden in Essex. Initially sticking to the Norfolk Heritage Coast it then goes inland along the chalk hills of Cambridgeshire and Essex. On its route the walk connects with the Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path, the Nar Valley Way and Icknield Way.
