Maps
Ordnance Survey Outdoor Leisure 26 North York Moors Western area and 27
North York Moors Eastern area |
From Scalby Ness just north of Scarborough
to Helmsley
along
the southern flank of the North York Moors through the Tabular Hills. This is
a walking route devised by the North
York Moors National Park to provide the missing link for the Cleveland Way
to return to its start. They produce an excellent guide to accompany the walk
with extracts from the Ordnance Survey 1:25000 maps to assist in navigation.
The walk passes through Wykeham and
Dalby Forests (Blue Man Walk), goes through
the Hole of Horcum
,
crosses the North York Moors Railway
,
samples the Cropton Brewery, marvels at the view and tells the time in Gillamoor
before arriving at the market town of Helmsley with its ruined castle, the open
air lido and Duncombe Park.
The route also links to the Ebor Way at Helmsley and utilising a section of the Cleveland Way links with the Wolds Way and Centenary Way at Filey Brigg
