Starting in Padstow the walk utilises two sections of disused railway line taking in Wadebridge, Boscarne Junction and Bodmin to finish at Poley's Bridge.
This may seem a little boring walking along another disused railway line and sharing it with bicylists to boot but this is no ordinary disused railway line!
This was the third railway line to be built anywhere in the entire world after those of the Darlington and Stockton and Manchester to Liverpool lines. It was used to take lime sand from the Camal Estuary inland to supply the farmers in Wadebridge and beyond.
One other reason for walking along this route is the beauty of the Camal River with its great diversity of wildlife, flora and fauna. Bird's to watch out for include peregrine falcons, oystercatchers, herons, buzzards and curlew.
Because it does utilise an old railway track the walking surface is firm and suitable for wheelchair access and is used as a cycle route
