Walking in Northumberland

part of the Walking on the Web guide to walking in England

Return to walking in England

Walking in Northumberland is very diverse ranging from a low level coastal path The Coast Path Northumbria, the undulating Hadrian's Wall National Trail, the vastness of the Keilder Forest and its many walking routes and the Cheviot Hills bordering Scotland and the final leg of the Pennine Way National Trail. There is great beauty to be found walking in Northumbria and it quite rightly has a National Park within its boundaries. One of the great attractions is that there are so few people so when out walking you can truely be alone. The Coast Path Northumbria is part of a much larger project The North Sea Trail that follows the coast of all the countries that border the North Sea.
